The William S. Cohen School held its annual National Geography Bee competition on Thursday, January 12th in the school’s auditorium. More than 40 participants qualified for the final round. Student participants had to qualify for this level of competition in the preceding and very challenging classroom-based competition. After a very intense contest, 8th grader Jonny Lyon finished in first place. 7th grader Kossi Ifeji came in a close second after many thrilling rounds. As the school-wide winner, Jonny will take a qualifying exam for the state-wide competition to be held on March 1st at the University of Maine in Farmington. Congratulations to Jonny and Kossi and to all of the students who participated in this year’s Geography Bee.
