The Bangor School Department would like to welcome Erin Ireland as the new principal of the Abraham Lincoln School and Stephen Riitano as the assistant principal of the William S. Cohen School.
Erin Ireland brings nearly 30 years of experience in education to her role as principal of Abraham Lincoln School with the Bangor School Department. Throughout her career, she has served as an educational technician, Title I and Reading Recovery teacher, classroom teacher in kindergarten, first, and fifth grades, PreK–6 principal, and curriculum coordinator. Erin is known for her commitment to student success, instructional leadership, and building strong school communities. She and her husband, Greg, have been married for 30 years and are the proud parents of two grown daughters, Paige and Morgan. Erin is excited to return to the Bangor area to be closer to family and to contribute to a district that values high-quality, inclusive education.
Stephen Riitano has taught for the past six years in Bangor, four at the James F. Doughty School and the last two at Bangor High School. "Education and serving students to become the best version of themselves has been a driving force behind why I do the work that I do every day. I also may be known to many through my role as a driver’s education teacher here in Bangor. I was lucky enough to know exactly what I wanted to do since I was in the third grade. It was during my time in Bangor that I knew I wanted to come back to the district and work," said Riitano. Stephen Riitano is a proud graduate of the Bangor School Department and is grateful to have the opportunity to serve the students of Bangor as he was once served. Stephen and his wife live in Bangor, and they look forward to enjoying many events throughout the community!
